I know technology is amazing. Trust me, I'm quite the nerd, constantly reading updates and rumors about the new iPhone that is supposedly coming out in September. I am always texting someone, except when at work. When I am bored the first thing I do is read through facebook, twitter, and FML posts. It's right there in the palm of your hand! So convenient! Even though these things are fun and so simple to access, we need to start challenging ourselves to power down our devices and spend time doing activities that use our imagination!
Have you ever watched a 3 year old play? It doesn't take much to amuse them. Why can't adults be like that? We can! Just because we have to pay bills and work doesn't mean our creativity has been sucked out of our brains! Now I know the majority of you are not going to want to play "house" but there are more grown-up ways to use your imagination! Crafting for example! I plan on crafting with my mom today in my crafting room, which I designed and painted myself, using my imagination. It started out as a storage room and it is now an exciting place to create whatever you can imagine. Plus it has a crazy black, yellow, and lime green color scheme! You can create something in your head and then you can make it a reality. Sometimes you even get to use power tools! It seems like a stretch going from a 3 year old playing "house" to crafting but it's really not because they both use one thing, your imagination. A cell phone doesn't use that, heck, it does 3/4ths of the work for you! Take a day and try having some fun without your 21st century gadgets!

Aside from getting in shape is reading and other leisure activities that use our brain a bit more than staring at a screen. Well, I say that but I can read books on my iPhone and iPad! When reading you use your imagination to create, in your mind, the place you're reading about. You can also learn more and improve your reading skills. One other activity that is much better than dealing with electronics is spending time with friends and family! They're a bit more important than facebook. Go out and have some fun or have a good conversation. Just enjoy each others company because you never know if you'll get tomorrow.
I hope you feel a bit motivated to detach yourself from all the technology that surrounds you. Get out and have some fun! Read a book, create something, be spontaneous! As soon as I post this I am getting out of this computer chair and hopefully I won't return to it at least until tomorrow! GO LIVE YOUR LIFE!!!
